On March 25 Russia and Georgia resume air communication between the countries. The flights will be carried out on a parity basis. Russian air carriers Aeroflot and S7 Airlines together got a right to carry out 10 flights a week to Georgia.
Georgian air companies have started to compete for the right to fly to Russia. Airzena Georgian Airways has paid 2 million dollars to Russia and claims it to be a goodwill gesture as the air company did not have any debts. Airzena has accused another Georgian airline – Georgian National Airlines – of owing $US561 thousand to the Russian air navigation services. Georgian National Airlines denies this and havs applied to court for charging $US5 million moral compensation from Airzena.
Recently, representatives of Georgian officials have reported that Airzena will fly to Russia seven times a week while Georgian National Airlines – only three times a week.
