Siemens to make first high-speed train for Russia

Siemens AG will supply the first high speed train Velaro Rus to Russian Railways in December 2008.
      
      Upon the delivery, the train will have to pass the certification test. It is also reported that the preparation works on the St. Petersburg-Moscow railroad infrastructure will be completed on time.
      
      Russian Railways and Siemens signed an agreement on supplies of 8 Velaro Rus trains totaling ?276 million in May of 2006.
      
      Velaro Rus trains are firstly intended to run along St. Petersburg-Moscow route at the expected speed of 250 km/h. However, the engineering design of the train allows the max speed of 330 km/h after it undergoes an adjustment.
