A new universal air proving ground for the Russian Air Forces is being constructed in the south of Russia and will become the largest in the country. The air proving ground will be fitted up with the most modern equipped and is aimed at providing combat work to all kinds of aviation, air defence troops, major air formations of the Air Forces and aviation training of the Ministry of Domestic Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Construction of the new ground is based on an old inactive one in the area of Taganrog city. The Taganrog authorities, ecologists and marketing analytics do not consider the city suburbs to be a proper place, as Taganrog was supposed to become a tourist centre and exploiting military equipment and aircraft may frighten tourists away.
