Tropical Jelly-fish Found in Volga River

A colony of tropical river and lake dwellers – freshwater jelly-fish – has been found in the Volga River not far from the Rybinsk water reservoir. Experts explain that the “southern guests” got in the Volga River with ballast waters, from the ships going to Russia from the South.

The strain of jelly-fish in the Volga River is supposed to be the only strain of freshwater jelly-fish; they are small and cannot pose danger to people. The Russian experts indicate global warning as the main reason of the recent find and also mark that in the water eco-system changes occur faster than on land.
