The Russian Museum (St. Petersburg) for the first time exhibits all the works by the eminent artist Arkhip Kuindzhi (1842-1910) from its funds.
The exhibition timed to the 165th anniversary since the artists birthday, displays the results of his 40-year oeuvre: these are 150 paintings, drawings and sketches. No other museum can boast such a complete collection of this groundbreaking landscapist.
Apart from the famous paintings, such as The Ukrainian night, Rainbow, and Moonlit Night on the Dnieper, the exposition introduces less known works: The Clouds, Mist at the Sea, and others, NTV reports.
The Professor of St. Petersburg Academy of Arts Arkhip Kuindzhi gained perfect insight into the harmony of colouring and undertones, light and chiaroscuro. Some of his canvasses surprise with magic glow; the paints on them have not faded till date. This secret has not been solved up to date.
