Monument to the legendary American poet Walt Whitman will be set up on the territory of the Moscow Lomonosov State University, Moscow, in 2008.
      
      Washington Mayor Council will present the Moscow University with the bronze sculpture created by the Peoples Artist of Russia and the Russian Academy of Arts member, the sculptor Alexander Burganov on request of the Washington authorities.
      
      Walt Whitman (1819-1892) was an outstanding American poet, poetry reformer, journalist and essayist. Walt Whitman is often called the poet of world democracy, which assumes a cosmic scale in his poetry.
