Ulyanovsk to Become the Capital of Philately

The project Ulyanovsk Region as the Philatelic Capital of Russia 2008 has kicked off in Ulyanovsk. Governor Sergey Morozov has announced the beginning of the project realization.
      
      A range of events on both a national and a regional scale will be held in the framework of the project. The unveiling of Monument to Letter in Ulyanovsk, presentation of the project Krestovo-Gorodishe as the Minor Philatelic Capital of Russia, the philatelic contest Mail-Art, Unusual Mail, opening of the Simbirsk Mail Museum and a number of regional and all-Russian stamp exhibitions are among them, u-volga.ru reports.
      
      In 2008 Ulyanovsk Region will become the first ever Philatelic Capital of Russia, following the decision of the Union of Philatelists of Russia.
