St. Petersburg is turning into a real Russian Detroit. Hyundai has decided to build a car plant in the northern capital of Russia. It is the 5th car manufacturing giant coming to the city after Toyota, Nissan, General Motors and Suzuki.
An agreement on building a plant was signed in Saul in the course of a meeting of the St. Petersburg governor Valentina Matvienko and president of the corporation Hyundai.
The car manufacturing plant will take 50 hectares in the Kamenka industrial area and will neighbour with the buildings of another car manufacturer – Nissan. It is planned that the new Hyundai plant will annually produce around 100.000 cars.
