Yesterday the ex-German chancellor and current chairman of the supervisory board of Nord Stream AG Gerhard Schroeder gave a lecture ‘Russia and the future of the European energy security’ at Columbian University in the city of New York.
      
      Gerhard Schroeder criticized American policy towards Russia, saying the States prevent Russia from integration to the world economic community. The world society can only benefit from Russia’s integration. Russia is a serious partner for Europe and the USA and the world can’t solve a global problem without its decision, including the Middle East, Kosovo status or global warming. Schroeder mentioned that Russia had made some concessions which US had not even noticed.
      
      Mr. Schroeder spoke out his doubts concerning the reasons for US deployment of missile defense in Poland and radar in the Czech Republic. He considers this U.S. step as a military force demonstration and he is for further negotiations on this issue.
