The outstanding Russian dissident author and public figure Alexandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn turns 89 today. In the beginning of the next year his first biography will be issued by the Molodaya Gvardia publishing house.
The biography has been written by the well-known philologist Lyudmila Saraskina, famous for her research of Fyodor Dostoyevskys works.
The book is interesting not only for its size (almost 1000 pages with 120 photos), but first of all for being the only example of the great writers lifetime biography based on his personal account - many hours of conversations recorded on tape.
