Domain name olimpic-sochi.ru sold for $1.8 million

The day, when Sochi was announced the capital of the Olympics 2014, became a landmark in the history of the city. Some enterprising people took advantage of the news and registered about 50 domain names sounding similar to Sochi.
      
      Olimpic-sochi.ru was sold for $1.8 million, while sochi.pro brought its former owners only $300 thousand. Sochi.info is still auctioned with the opening price valued at $773 thousand. Besides, such domain names as sochi-life.com (about $1 million), olimpiada.sochi.su ($696 thousand) and sochiolymp.info ($417 thousand) are waiting for their turn to be sold.
