Large Uranium Deposit to be Developed in Yakutia
Storage of radioactive wastes

Russian officials report about expected development of a large uranium deposit, located in Yakutia. Energy for this purpose, as well as for local settlements, lacking electricity, will come from new floating low-power nuclear power plants.

However, mass media claim Russian government does not plan building any nuclear power plants in the region, since Yakutia is known for its rapid full-flowing rivers, perfect for building hydroelectric power stations, which are another highly effective power source.
