Russian authorities have reported about their intention to establish “Titanium Valley”, a special economic area, where aircraft materials for export will be produced.
“Titanium Valley” will be founded on the basis of VSMPO Avisma Corporation in the Sverdlovsk Region, Western Siberia. Earlier it was planned that all enterprises operating in Titanium Valley will pay reduced taxes and duties. Such companies as Boeing and Rolls-Royce have claimed they are interested in the project.
The head of the Sverdlovsk government said they were not going to conduct a tender to pick enterprises, which could place their facilities in the valley. Instead, it was suggested that a new Titanium Union of small, medium and big companies should be formed to manufacture complementary products in a limited area. Big foreign companies interested in titanium rolled products are supposed to establish their works in the Sverdlovsk Region.
