Festival of Arseny and Andrei Tarkovsky, timed to celebrate the centenary of the poet’s birth and the 75th anniversary since the birth of the film director will be held in London in November and December 2007.
As Radio Svoboda informs, English poets, translators and actors, as well as Russian celebrities will take part in the festival. Tarkovsky’s cameraman Vadim Yusov, actors Oleg Yankovsky (Sacrifice), Nikolai Burlyayev (Ivan’s Childhood, Andrei Rublyov) and Natalya Bondarchuk, and film director Alexander Gordon will present Andrei Tarkovsky’s films to the London public. Leila Alexander, the director’s assistant and translator during the filming of Sacrifice in Sweden, has been also invited to the festival, as well as the daughter of Arseni Tarkovsky and sister of Andrei Tarkovsky Marina.
