Black Monster to Symbolize Boris Yeltsin

Results of the competition for the best monument to the first President of Russia have been announced: the winner is an abstract black something personifying the destruction and decay of the epoch of Yeltsin.

The competition was organized by the Art4.ru museum, the visitors of which elected the winners. The author of the biomorphic black monster, as it was put by the museum director Mr. Markin, is Dmitry Kavarga. Now the project must be agreed about with the Moscow authorities.

The idea to hold an open competition for the monument to Yeltsin emerged in defiance of the loud-voiced wish of Zurab Tsereteli to set in stone the image of the first Russian President. Just a few hours past the death of Boris Yeltsin the notorious sculptor declared: I give my word that as time passes I will try and create his image in a monument.
