World’s Highest Mountain Hotel to Revive at Elbrus
The hotel that burnt in 1998

As it has become known, in the nearest future it is planned to rebuild the world’s highest mountain hotel Shelter-11 (Priyut-11) that was situated at Mount Elbrus and went on fire in 1998. A large Moscow company is ready to invest 5 million EUR in this project.
The new hotel will entirely look like the burnt 3-story building. At the same time it is planned to use the most modern building materials, including metal constructions produced by an aircraft factory.
The highest mountain hotel in the world Shelter-11 went on fire in 1998 due to the fire prevention rules had been broken by the foreign tourists. The first wooden building of the hotel was constructed in 1932, and in seven years it was replaced with a 3-storey building that had functioned 59 years.
A total of 23 billion roubles are to be allotted for development of the Mount Elbrus area, reconstruction of the ski complexes, and new resorts building.
