In October 2007 the SaM146 engine for Sukhoi Superjet-100 plane is to go through the first flight test in Zhukovsky town in Russia. The engine has been set into the powerplant of a flying laboratory based on IL-76LL aircraft and the final montage of the systems has almost been over.
The flight test of the SaM146 engine as part of the flying laboratory is to be held to provide the first ever flight of the Russian regional aircraft Sukhoi Superjet-100 that is expected to take place at the end of the year.
However, it is going to be the first of the two planned flight tests: the second one will take place in South-West of France in the centre of flight tests of the company Snecma – a designer, developer, and producer of engines for civil and military aircraft.
Holding flight tests of the engine is an essential condition for getting permission for carrying out the first flight of Sukhoi Superjet-100.
