Euro 2008 Qualifier Causes Long Queues in Moscow

On Monday, October 8, booking offices of the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow started selling tickets for football Euro 2008 qualifier with Russia and England that will take place in the Russian capital on October 17.
      A queue at the booking office started to form on Sunday, October 7; people were standing in the queue day and night, despite the heavy rains. By Monday morning several thousand people had been standing in the queue and at around 1pm the queue was nearly one kilometer long.
      77 thousand spectators are expected to watch the match; however, only 6.5 thousand tickets are available for free sell at the Luzhniki Stadium booking offices. As the press-service of the Russian Football Union reports, 22 thousand tickets have been directed to the All-Russian Fans Association, 4.5 thousand tickets are for the British football fans, and the rest are available only by preliminary request directed to the Russian Football Union.
