In the course of the visit of Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari to Moscow it became known that Baghdad was ready to give Russian companies some preferences concerning rehabilitation and restoration of the Iraqi economy. In particular, this means that Russia will get access to the Iraqi oil and energy sectors.
      Such decision is based on the fact that Russia has agreed to write off 90% of the Iraqi US$10 billion debt. Earlier Iraq insisted that Russia must write off the country’s debt without any obligations from the Iraqi side.
      The Iraqi debt was the main issue of Hoshiyar Zebari visit to Russia. “We need help and support of all influential states, including Russia”, Foreign Minister marked.
