Air Catastrophe Prevented in Moscow

The air traffic controllers of Vnukovo Airport in Moscow have prevented a crash of a passenger liner IL-86 belonging to the air company Atlant-Soyuz and flying from Moscow to Egypt. When the plane with 345 passengers aboard was about to take off from the runway, one of the air traffic control officers Victor Lyakhov noticed that fuel was flowing out of the left wing tank. The officer immediately gave orders to the plane`s crew to stop taking off.
Shortly after the pilots had stopped the plane, a firemen team arrived to the spot and started cooling the landing gear. Then the IL-86 was towed to the ramp. No one was injured.
