A unique find has been made by St. Petersburg archeologists in the town of Aleksandrov, the Vladimir region.
During digging works in Aleksandrovskaya Sloboda they have discovered galleries of the palace of the Moscow tsar Vasili III, the founder of the estate.
“We were lucky just on the very last days of the diggings. Everything was disclosing gradually, but when the second pair of columns was discovered, it became obvious that we dealt with the unique historical construction”, says Yekaterina Turova, the head of the archeological team.
According to her, they have found the remnants of what used to make three building complexes, belonging to the tsar, the tsarina and the tsarevich (their son) and connected by galleries and complementary constructions. These are preliminary conclusions, which are, however, already confirmed by the found structures and foundations.
