On Monday, August 20, Russia started supplies of 50 air defence systems to Syria. The supplies of the missile-artillery complex “Pancir-C1E” are one of the items of the 450-million pounds contract that was earlier signed by the Syrian government and Rosoboronexport – an exclusive exporter of Russian weapons abroad.
Some Russian experts assume that Syria may send 10 air defence sysyems to Iran; however, the RF government excludes the possibility of the weapons re-export.
At the same time the Armed Forces of Venezuela will get 5000 sniper riffles produced in Russia. In a TV speech Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez reported about purchasing of a large lot of Russian riffles. According to Chavez, Venezuela intends to develop cooperation with Russia in order to protect the country from aggression.
At the moment Venezuela and Russia are holding negotiations over supplies of submarines, military transportation jets, additional supplies of helicopters and other equipment.
Earlier Venezuela acquired 24 multifunctional fighter jets SU-30, over 50 helicopters, and 100 thousand guns AK-103.
