There Are More Antarctic Sea Dwellers Than We Thought
Melanocetus rossi Balushkin et Fedorov

Long-term studies of Antarctic fauna resulted in adding 1 order, 7 families, 13 genera and 64 species to the list of Antarctic fish by RAS Institute of Zoology.
      Researchers have not only listed new-found dwellers of the Southern Ocean, but also gave details on their origin, size and habitats. Their data show that currently ichthyofauna of the Southern Ocean consists of 367 species of 59 families.
      Among other finding Russian scientists have described a rare fish species - Melanocetus rossi Balushkin et Fedorov, discovered in high Antarctic latitudes on small depths.
