Last week the British company Skytrax published their annual airlines rating “World Airline Awards” based on interviews of more than 14 million passengers all over the world. This year Singapore Airlines, which was only 7th in 2006, takes top honour in the World Airline Awards, with Thai Airways in 2nd place, and Cathay Pacific 3rd.
It is needed to mark that apart from the general winners` list the airlines were divided into 16 regional categories and each of them also had the overall winner. Thus, British Airways appeared the best European airline, while CSA Czech Airlines – the best airline of Central Europe. At that Russia, the world’s largest country, was not actually included in any of the presented regions, and Russian air transporters did not get in any of the ratings of 2007.
At the same time Russia has no analogous independent rating of national airlines. In comparison with the West, where such rating exists for several years, Russia simply does not have a mechanism of independent estimate of airlines` work yet.
