More than 100 earth shocks registered in Sakhalin

Sakhalin seismologists continue to register earth shocks measuring 3-4 on the Richter scale which occur every 1-1.5 hours. According to the latest data, the earthquake’s epicenter is moving towards the regional centre Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk city. Seismologists do not exclude the probability of new disastrous earthquakes. On the whole more than 100 earth shocks have been registered in Sakhalin today.
Earlier today earth shocks measuring 7 on the Richter scale killed 2, injured 12 people, and left nearly 250 people without homes. The earthquake spread over such cities as Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Kholmsk, and Novelsk town which was located near the epicenter of the natural disaster.
Alexander Spirin, the head of the seismic station of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, says: “Earth shocks will go on. Today or tomorrow we can expect an earthquake of the same strength”.
