Since the 100th anniversary of the mysterious celestial body hitting the Earth near the Nizhnyaya Tunguska river approaches, scientists and newspersons from all over the world invade the site.
The taiga now hosts researchers from various Russian scientific institutions and TV crew from Spain, who shoot a documentary film about one of most mysterious phenomena of the XXth century.
In June 30, 1908, a giant meteor has flown over vast territories of Central Siberia. Its flight was rich in light and sound effects, ending with a powerful explosion, equal to 2000 Hiroshima nuclear bombs, followed by total collapse of taiga forest around the impact site.
This phenomenon is still waiting to be explained.

: They've gotten the explanation for this. There's a lake a short distance from here that looks to have been formed from a comet or meteorite. I read the story about it a few weeks back. They're going to dig underwater to see if they can find debris from the object. Added: 31 July 2007 03:12 |
