Academicians against Russian Orthodox Church’s expansion

A thousand-year war between science and the church has faced a new battle recently – Russian academicians wrote an objection letter to President asking to stop the Russian Orthodox Church’s intervention in all spheres of social life. The scientists are indignant at the decision of the church to expand its teaching practice at schools.

Today in some regions of Russia pupils already study the Law of the Lord, which is believed to be an infringement of the constitution. What’s more, academicians are assured that theology has nothing to do with traditional science and can harm the educational process, though they are not against a religion as it is.

The reaction of Moscow Patriarchy was polite. All religions try to influence the moral climate of a society, noted the press secretary of the Patriarchy.
