Russian Air Force Never Forgot About Airships

Courses for airship pilots are open to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Aeronautical testing centre, press-service of Russian Ministry of Defence reports.
      
      The Aeronautical testing centre reopened in 2000 and now hosts tests and attempted operation of airships “Aerostatika-01” and “Aerostatika-02”. The courses have already trained 10 pilots, three of qihich are now instructing amateurs.
      
      The Centre has also contributed to research-and-development stages of “Progress” project by developing advanced system of air-borne mission control equipment of automatic aerostat and “Shpritz-S” project by designing aerostat surveillance equipment.
