The defence of the families of victims who died in A-310 air catastrophe in Irkutsk (Russia) in 2006 is considering a possibility of filing a civil suite against the European aircraft manufacturer – Airbus.
A suit will be filed in case if the procuratorate of the Irkutsk Region, holding an investigation of the catastrophe, confirms the responsibility of the A-310 manufacturer. However, this will also depend on a decision of the New-York court where nearly 200 relatives of those who died in the catastrophe and those who survived applied to at the end of 2006.
The accident occurred after the plane A-310 which carried out a flight Moscow-Irkutsk had landed in Irkutsk airport. The plane could not stop and at a fast speed it slid off the runway, broke through the concrete barrier of the airport, crashed into a building and caught fire. 125 out of 203 passengers died and the rest were injured.
