On 24 June, Sunday, a ceremonial procession took place on the Moscow River. Nearly 200 members of Russian Orthodox-patriotic organizations went on a motor ship trip with a slogan “We are Russians – God with us”. The motor ship was decorated with gonfalons, images of saints, and Royal national flags.
A gay cruise (the 2nd in 2007) took place on the same route on the Moscow River the day prior to the Orthodox procession. Representatives of the Orthodox organizations are sure that homosexual criuses profanate the river and are part of the harmful ideologic influence of the West. According to the coordinator of the Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods Yuri Ageshchev, one of the aims of the action was “to clean the Moscow River of the filth that filled the river after the trip of a big company of homosexuals that took place on the same route and on the same motor ship”.
