Svyatoslav Fyodorov (novayagazeta.ru)

The 80th anniversary since the birthday of the prominent ophthalmologist Svyatoslav Fyodorov will be marked with the unveiling of his monument on the 8th of August, 2007.

The bronze figure weighing 1200 kg will be set up in the park nearby the Erevan Cinema in the north of Moscow. The park will be named after Svyatoslav Fyodorov. It is not by accident that the monument will be set up in the north of the capital: the outstanding ophthalmological clinic founded by him is situated that part of the city.

Svyatoslav Fyodorov died in a flight accident in June 2000. He was one of the most prominent contemporary scientists, a talented surgeon, the author of many inventions and discoveries in ophthalmology, and the founder of the huge inter-branch scientific and technical complex “Eye Microsurgery”.
