The company Russian Railways intends to replace the little wings and hammers with a red Cyrillic monogram on a white background where the red letters symbolize locomotives. It is planned to repaint all carriages and replace the staff’s uniform with new one by 2010. The expenses for promotion of the new branding are expected to reach $5 million this year, while the whole programme of developing the new image of the company is estimated at $150 million.
Earlier the name of the company looked as follows: it was written with big blue letters accompanied by a blue sign of a train wheel with wings and little blue hammers situated under the sign.
According to specialists, rebranding is an investment in the future: a strong brand will help in growth of sub-companies cost and will increase the company’s competitive ability at the world transport market.
