Archeologists from Lipetsk now have a unique item – a rare Scythian sword, which is about 2.5 thousand years old.
The sword was found by a schoolboy, when he was digging up a seed bed near his home. The boy took the sword to his teacher of history, who passed it to archeologists.
Scythian sword, “akinakes” in Greek, is a short – 40-60 cm long – pointing weapon, usually used by Persians and Scythians in close fight. The artifact dates back to early Scythian age. Only about ten Scythian swords were found in Russia until now.
