Russia and China have signed in Peking the protocol on establishing a branch of the world known Shaolin monastery and Ushu Palace in Kalmykia.
The building of the monastery and the palace has been scheduled to start in 2007 already. Kalmykia is the only Buddhist region in Europe. “It can become a peculiar European centre for Buddhists of the world” – the President of Kalmykia declared.
Along with this event, the Year of China in Russia in 2007 will involve tours of Chinese ushu masters in a number of Russian cities.
