Starting today the Russian Federal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision imposes temporary restrictions on poultry supplies from the Belgium firm BE 2001 EEG/EG due to salmonella was found in a lot of chicken imported from Belgium. The Russian Agency asked the Belgium Services to carry out an investigation to detect the reason why the lot of chicken imported to Russia happened to be bacterially contaminated and to take steps to avoid such accidents in future.
Additionally, the Russian Federal Veterinary Agency has imposed temporary restrictions on meat supplies from the German enterprise DAZ 917 EWG, as salmonella appeared to be found in lots of German minced chicken, pork and minced pork. Parallel restrictions were imposed on production of some other German firms 6 and 15 March, 2007.
