Sergei Solovyov Ready with his Anna Karenina

The well-known Russian film director Sergei Solovyov has completed his screen version of Leo Tolstoy’s “Anna Karenina”. This film was Solovyov’s long-standing dream, and it took him 14 years to make it a reality.

The film will be on general release from October 2007. According to Solovyov, he has made two versions of the screening: a full-length film and a TV serial, the latter to be broadcasted on Russian television.

The film is starring Tatyana Drubich as Anna, Oleg Yankovsky as Karenin, and Yaroslav Boiko as Vronsky. As the film director informs, the film version focuses mainly on the story of this love triangle. As for the five-series TV version, providing more opportunities to expand the narration, much attention is paid to the scenes related to moral and philosophical quests of Levin, played by Sergei Garmash. The image of Kitty has been created by Mariya Anikanova, and that of Stieve Obolonsky by Aleksandr Abdulov.

The shooting took place mostly in the Yasnaya Polyana museum estate of Leo Tolstoy, which, in Solovyov’s opinion, helped create a special atmosphere and imbue the crew with the spirit of the great writer’s creation.
