High-speed trains to appear in Russia by 2012-2014

Russian Railways have a whole programme of high-speed railways` development: first on the routes Moscow-St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg-Helsinki, Moscow-Kazan, Moscow-Samara, and Moscow-Adler.
The Head of Russian Railways claims that high-speed railways will appear in Russia by 2012-2014 and marks that the first trains moving at more than 300km per hour speed are planned to be introduced on the route Moscow-St. Petersburg.
It is also said, that the first stage of the project has already been realized – now trains manage to reach St. Petersburg from Moscow in 3 hours 58 minutes. This year the time of the route is planned to be reduced by 3 hour 40 minutes or 3 hours 30 minutes. After the task is fulfilled, it will be the start of high-speed railway traffic which consequently will need construction of a special high-speed railway line.
