An international conference of the Eastern and Central European countries on management and preservation of historical centres of European cities included to the World Heritage List is to be held January 29 – February 2.
The main conference topic to discuss is the problems of historic and architectural city landscapes` protection, including those in St. Petersburg. It is expected that in the end of the conference UNESCO representatives will give their comments and recommendations to the St. Petersburg authorities.
Last year’s spring UNESCO representatives already visited St. Petersburg and gave a high opinion on the measures taken to maintain and protect monuments in the city. At the moment, according to UNESCO data, St. Petersburg takes the 8th position in the list of the most attractive tourist cities.
