The slowest train in Russia

The slowest train in Russia

The slowest train in Russia is functioning on one of the railway lines in the Vladimir Region, where the only narrow-gauge railway in the country is preserved.
Moving at the speed of 15 kilometres per hour, it is the only express in Russia where machinists stop the train by passengers` demand. The train is functioning on the famous railway route linking Vladimir and Ryazan towns in the past. Now it is the only available way for citizens of the village Golovanovo to get to the town.
The train goes from the village to Vladimir twice a week, and the locals fear that the narrow-gauge line can stop functioning. However, the administration of the regional railways denies these rumours.
