In Antarctic the first ice core is lifted over the subglacial Vostok Lake.

In Antarctic the Russian polar explorers lifted the first in this season ice core over the subglacial lake Vostok. Special thermodrill fixed 3 thousand 656,5 meters in depth, which were passed through in the ice over the relict reservoir - the Vostok lake, - the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute of the Agency on Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring informs.
The core is not too long because of the technical problems with drilling connected with so called singe crystal ice formed under high pressure-the details reported from the main office of the polar science.
