21.10.2004 00:00

The Cultural center DOM presents the First Moscow International Festival of Folk Dances.

The Festival will be held on October 23-24 as a series of open classes on European folk dances. The master classes will be conducted by teachers from Russia, Byelorussia, Ireland and Brittany. The classes are meant for all comers and do not require special experience or mastery in dancing. As for teachers, most of them have studied, collected and taught folk dances for over decades. Among them are Alexey Ivnovich Shilin from Russia and Patrick Murphy from Ireland.
The Festival has been initiated by Moscow Comhaltas Céilí school with the support of Russian Folk Union. The initiators of the festival hope that there will be more events of the kind and they will help to revive the interest in folk dance and music culture.
