Yesterday Lu Guchan, Chinese ambassador in Russia, and Efim Pivovarov, rector Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) have signed an agreement on establishing the Confucius Institute on the base of RSUH.
Establishment of such an institute in one of the leading Russian Universities is very important not only for further extension of Russian and Chinese contacts in education. This event is also essential for developing friendly relations and mutual neighbourly co-operation between Russian and China.
Officials of both countries are sure that new Confucius Institute will become the best among similar structures in Russia and abroad.
Chinese Stationery Office is opening Confucius Institutes all over the world for spreading Chinese language together with educational institutions and public organizations. Said Institutes are aimed at Chinese language and culture expansion abroad. About 150 Institutes of this kind are now open in 50 countries of the world.
