The first ever large-scale advertising campaign of St. Petersburg took place abroad this Sunday, December 24. As the chief of the Tourism department Marianna Ordzhonikidze reports, the advertising campaign with setting photo billboards of St. Petersburg in
Amsterdam, Paris, and London cost them 25 million roubles. Next year the Tourism department is planning to organize the advertising action in the same cities plus in Frankfurt and Tokyo.
Marianna Ordzhonikidze also adds that the budget of the Tourism department constitutes 120 million roubles, which is 30 million roubles less than in 2006. In comparison with Moscow, where the Committee of tourism appropriates more than 1 billion roubles for tourism development in 2007, the budget of St. Petersburg looks inconsiderable.
