Russian scientists have developed counterweapons for unauthorized entries to information systems by means of so-called hidden channels, says the head of information security department of the Institute of Fine Mechanics and Computation of Russian Academy of Sciences.
Currently IT-professionals use foreign software and hardware for local computer network deployment, which increases the possibility of having “hardware and software bugs” inserted. However, even all known internetworking protection measures cannot guarantee that a hacker won’t use these bugs by means of so-called hidden channels.
The institute’s think-tank has developed a mathematical model for building hidden channels mentioned above and estimating their bandwidth, as well as methods of controlling them.
Currently the institute develops necessary research and development facilities for providing guaranteed protection from hidden channels.
