State Duma stands against e-tickets

Introduction of electronic plane tickets sold via the Internet lets airlines considerably reduce the number of staff and overhead expenses. E-tickets have for long been common practice in many foreign countries. In an attempt to introduce the innovative way of air tickets selling, the Ministry of transport has encountered a strong resistance by the State Duma, which was about to decline the bill of electronic tickets in Russia.
As the Ministry of transport reports, they still hope that the new form of plane tickets will appear in Russia in 2007. At the same time the scale of juridical consequences of the project is to some extent unclear even to the project’s authors. It is considered now that the responsibility of overcoming all potential difficulties of e-tickets registration fully lies on airlines.
