Alexander Litvinenko, a former Russian secret service officer who claimed that he was poisoned, died at University College Hospital in London on Thursday evening, November 23. The London police are now carrying out an investigation while Litvinenko`s friends suspect that the former KGB agent was poisoned because of the criticism of the Russian government. The Kremlin denies any involvement.
The initial analysis made specialists think that Alexander Litvinenko was poisoned by thallium, one of heavy metals. Later, however, the commission was inclined to stick to the opinion, that Litvinenko`s condition was caused by some form of radioactive material. Now both versions have been declined and the reason for the death still remains unclear.
