Anna Politkovskaya Awarded Posthumously

Anna Politkovskaya (1958-2006) has been posthumously conferred on the International Literature Award named for the well-known Italian journalist Tiziano Terzani for 2007, Italian Corriere della Sera informs.
The jury consisting of lots of famous journalists and public figures (among them Giulio Anselmi, editor-in-chief of the Republicca newspaper, Tony Capuozzo, TV presenter of Terra, and observer Ettore Mo) was unanimous about awarding Politkovskaya.
"A person ready to pay one's life for exposure of abuse is putting ethics above all other considerations. This is the rare quality the jury wants to mark by giving the Tiziano Terzani International Literature Award for 2007 to Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya", chairman of the jury Angela Terzani noted.
