From October 1, 2004 the Novosibirsk Art Museum hosts the III festival of contemporary art Art-Novosibirsk 2004.The festival is held every two years from 2000. Among the participants of Art-Novosibirsk are independent galleries, creative teams and unions and other institutions, taking professional part in contemporary art process.
Initially state cultural institutions also participated in the festival. Among them were the State Center of Contemporary Art (Moscow) and the Tretyakov Gallery. Among honorable participants of the festival one can name the British Council and the photo agency "Magnum photos".
This time the biggest foreign participant will be Monte-Video institute from the Netherlands with the program “30 years of Dutch video art”. The public will also see projects from Germany, Finland, Japan and Kirghizia. Russian contemporary art will be represented by galleries from Moscow, St.-Petersburg and Ufa.
Art Novosibirsk presents around 20 exhibitions held simultaneously in several spots of the city, attended with lectures, discussions and meetings with authors. The 3rd youth exhibition of contemporary art “Toys” will be held in the framework of the festival; young artists from Novosibirsk, Omsk, Yekaterinburg, Novokuznetsk, Moscow, St.-Petersburg, New Zealand and the Netherlands will display their works.
