The first stage of designing the regional national park "Zhuravliny Krai" has been completed in the Moscow region, the press service of the Ministry of Ecology of the region reports.
Biologists have confirmed the habitat of 247 species of flora and fauna listed in the Red Data Books of Russia and the Moscow Region there. Here is the only wild, free-living population of bison in the region. But the main value is the largest migratory gathering of the gray crane in the region The Verkhovye Environmental Fund, under a contract with the Ministry of Ecology, has completed the first stage of designing a future national park of regional significance, which is planned to be organized in the Taldomsky and Sergiev Posad urban districts.
The planned area of the future specially protected natural area (SPNA) is 103 thousand hectares. It is inhabited by species of animals that are extremely rare in the Moscow Region: brown bear, lynx, wolf, otter, osprey, snake eagle, white-tailed eagle, great spotted eagle, black and white storks.
