Parliament (Landtag) of the German federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern by a majority vote supported the initiative of the regional government to create an environmental fund "Climate and Environment Protection MV". One of the goals of the fund will be “to contribute to the continuation of the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline”.
“The Fund will contribute to the achievement of Germany's climatic goals, as well as, as part of temporary operating activities, will support the completion of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to ensure reliable natural gas supplies,” the operator of the Nord Stream 2 AG construction project said (quoted by TASS ). According to Bild, the fund will set up a commercial enterprise to complete the pipeline. At the same time, German companies will not violate the US sanctions regime, since they will begin to interact on the completion of construction not directly, but through the fund.
